Largemouth BassTechniqueSwim JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationThis new catch and release season has truly been the bomb. This definitely beats crappie fishing 😉. Look forward to catching more fat mammas. Get out there and enjoy it.

CrappieTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureReedsFind shallow bays, where the water warms up after first ice off, focus on the north east corners of the bays where the water will warm faster. Or find bays where small creeks dump into the bay. Look for active bugs swimming on the surface and you'll find the crappie.

CrappieTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationThe larger crappies have been moving shallow! We have had our best success in the 2-6ft weed clumps on the outside of spawning bays/cuts. Slow reeling a bobber to keep that bait in the strike zone has been very productive. We have found that greens and whites have been very productive colors. Have to remember that this time of year, not every fish is shallow, there is still a very large majority of big fish out staging, preparing to move in. Small tubes and creature baits, even ice fishing jigs and plastics have been very productive.

Panfish / BluegillTechniqueBobbersSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureDocksCasting bobbers around docks. Let the bobber sit then slow reel back, pause then slow reel again. Panfish are still pretty sluggish but I was able to get a fair amount in short order.
