TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSummerStructurePointsWith the super clear water on Lake Mohave there are times where the finesse techniques are going to prove to be the most successful. It was a slick calm mid morning and the reaction baits would not get bit. I decided to switch it up and throw a Matt Luna Ned Rig and started to get consistent bites along the points. Used a Daiwa Fuego with Berkley X9 braid as the main line, Sunline FC Sniper for the leader, and a homemade ned rig worm, but another great option is the 6th Sense Ned Fry cut in half.

TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSummerStructureReedsMohave can have very windy conditions at times, and with the clear water this makes for the best chance at catching fish on reaction baits. I decided to throw a homemade spinnerbait in a shad pattern around exposed brush and reeds. I managed to catch a number of smallmouth and largemouth bass just covering water.

TechniqueFinesse JigsSeasonSummerStructureBouldersLake Mohave is a clear water desert lake and the jig bite can be very good at times on all the desert lakes. I found lots of success throwing the 6th Sense Ball Head Finesse jig with a 6th Sense Stroker Craw for a trailer. This combination fished in the 20 foot range produced some decent quality smallmouth bass. I was also using Sunline FC Sniper Fluorocarbon in 12lb test, along with a Shimano Curado K or Daiwa Tatula SV reel, and a 6th Sense Unicorn rod.

TechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSummerStructureRock PileLake Mohave has super clear water. Visibility can be over 20 feet in some areas. I fished in the afternoon and was able to find fish with a 6th Sense Cloud 9 C10 Bluegill Spawn crankbait. The wind was blowing a fair amount, and I targeted rock banks and riprap areas. I caught a number of fish in a short period of time. I was using a 6th Sense Lux rod 7'11" and a Shimano SLX reel paired with Sunline FC Sniper Fluorocarbon.
