Smallmouth BassTechniqueUnderspinsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureRock PileThe south winds were BLOWING and abusing me in my little kayak, but the water was crystal clear and I knew it was smallie time. I didn’t catch many, only caught 3, but the ones I did catch were TANKS. My smallest fish of the day was 3lbs. Targeted rock piles on the mile roads with my natural looking underspin and a finesse tube and caught some hogs. Saw guys catching more numbers fishing jerkbaits. Happy hunting!

Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureBouldersIf the water is as clear as it was when I was fishing, and the wind was kicking up as it has been a lot recently, throw the most natural looking jerkbaits you can find in about 6-10 feet above the boulders and new growing weeds. I found lots of success with the matte perch and clear laker colors as they are great imitators of their forage.
