Smallmouth BassTechniqueTubesSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBouldersFished most of the day in 8-11 FOW dragging a Strike King Coffee Tube on a 1/2oz Bite Me Big Dude tube jig. Morning bite was extremely slow, but it picked up significantly around noon. The water around the mouth of the Clinton River was completely blown out due to all the recent rains. Once you got away from the river, the water clarity was very, very good. Ended the day with 26 total, but I spent quite a bit of my day graphing around to get ready for a couple trips this upcoming weekend.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureRock Pile4/10/21 Fish were holding tight to the bottom, in rocky flats in about 10-14 ft of water. Water temps were 48-49 degrees in the main body on the west side, water clarity was 5-6 ft with overcast skies and wind at 5-8mph. Most of our fish were caught on soft bodied swimbaits, they produced all day. The jerkbait bite was on fire late morning to mid afternoon and then just shut off. If you could find the rocks, you were finding fish. Bounce swimbaits along the bottom and move slow, jerkbaits were producing on the pause sometimes for up to 10 seconds. We landed 50 fish using these techniques. Always a great day on LSC.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBouldersThe smallmouth are staging to spawn on rock piles. Locate your rock piles and set up accordingly based on water clarity. I was having to cast 40 feet past to rip the Jerkbait down to them because they were glue to the bottom. Aggressive retrieval with short pauses worked best.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureReedsRunning the Berkley SLOBBERKNOCKER bladed jig out at Harsens Island for some prespawn largemouth bass. Had success with slow and fast retrieve in about 4FOW close to the shoreline. Air temps were in the high 50’s, wind was light.
