TechniqueVertical Jigging Deep (20'+)SeasonSummerStructureHumpsWent out on the St. Croix again. With Water temps in the 70's believe it or not the fishing is still picking up. We had SSW at 15 -25 mph which blew in the bait fish in tight and the Walleye and Saugers were feeding. Using a 3/8 jig and minnows caught a total of 38 between both species. With Walleye size limit of 15" minimum. Most fish where in that 14.75" range. Saugers have no minimum and those ran 13" to 14" did manage a 19" Sauger 16" and 15" Sauger. All fish today where found in 20 FOW. Between the winds and the 96 degree heat and heavy boat traffic was very pleased with the day. Just another fun day out catching. Get out and fish and keep those lines tight. All fish released unharmed.

TechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureRock PileCasting and dragging Ned rigs around rocks was the ticket in hooking up with some walleye on the St croix river.

Largemouth Bass
TechniqueTubesSeasonSummerStructureRip RapEarly June with water temps in the low 70s. Found smallmouth in the shallows in the 3-7ft water depth approximately. Pretty much the whole shoreline of the St. Croix can produce a decent smallmouth bite. The shorelines that have the larger rock seem to hold the larger bodied fish. Pitch/cast the tube jig up to the shoreline and work it back to the boat. The fish were hitting from the shoreline to the boat as they were pretty scattered.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureRip RapI think the fish are off the beds and recuperating. Water temps 65-68 depending on the depth and wind. None of the fish I caught had bellies fat with eggs. I had success covering a lot of ground throwing a chatterbait to pick of the fish still hanging around. All fish in 8-10 feet of water. I’m sure there out there deep recuperating if you like throwing some deep diving crank baits.
