Species
Largemouth BassTechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassA frog is hard to beat for a big bite in the summer. A drop shot around the deeper docks and brush for numbers.
- Species
Largemouth BassTechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSummerStructureRip RapWater temps dropped a few degrees and the water was clear on the lower end of the lake near the dam. Fishing was tough with the holiday traffic and wind but a 1/2 oz spinnerbait in a shad color put numbers in the boat. Wind blown points with rock were holding numbers with the dam rip rap producing our biggest fish. Megabass P5 dark sleeper rod paired with a daiwa zillion sv tw has been a phenominal combo for spinnerbaits and the sleeper craw this spring.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLaydownsFishing was tough and the cold temps and heavy weekend rain didn’t help. Water temp has dropped to the low 60’s. North end below the Oconee dam had the clearest water with heavy stain south of shoulder bone and throughout the rest of the lake. Burning a skinny dipper and a jackhammer fished around shallow laydowns produced some quality bites.

Species
Largemouth BassTechniqueStructure JigsSeasonSummerStructureStumpsA jig is hard to beat when you find deeper structure. A free rig fished in the same areas is another good finesse option.
