Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksFished in a tournament, started out fishing where I thought they should have been, shallow spawning along sea walls, docks and reeds, but no luck with only a few bites. Went down into Shingle Creek and got this one, 3.14lbs. in the boat and lost 3 others. I used a Rapala Crush City Mayor in Black and Blue flake, Yum Swim n Dinger in Watermelon Pearl, and what had the best results a Willow Vibe jig head with the Rapala Mooch minnow.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLily PadsI fished Lake Toho, as well as Lake Cypress and Kissimmee from 02/19/23 to 02/22/23 for the Major League Fishing Collegiate National Championship. We spent most of our time on Toho, where we were able to find a pretty consistent bite flipping a senko into lily pads mixed in with reeds and kissimmee grass. We were also able to utilize a jerkbait and livescope on a few brush piles to catch some smaller fish too. In cypress, chatterbaits around the edges of lily pad fields produced bites for us, and the same pattern seemed to work for us in Kissimmee as well. Overall, it was a pretty tough week for us, but we did have a decent bag on day 1 of the tournament that went 12 pounds 8 ounces (pictured with the report) that had us in 60th place out of 198 teams after day 1. Unfortunately, the fog delay for 3 hours coupled with being one of the last boats to go out on day 2 and trolling motor issues completely ruined our day 2, so we ended up falling quite a bit. Not the finish you want in the national championship, but we were happy to be there and be a part of it. The fish seemed to be in all 3 stages of the spawn across the chain, and we even caught 3 bass off of beds sight fishing. The water temperature ranged anywhere from 65 to 75 degrees across the chain throughout the week, and the water clarity was tanic but clear as you could see down about 1.5 to 2.5 feet everywhere we went. The weather was warm all week and stable, so the fishing was pretty consistent. I hope this report helps you out on your next trip, good luck and tight lines!

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureLily PadsSwimming a speed worm around sparse but expansive pad fields allowed me to quickly locate post spawn males to use as a limit filler during the tournament. Highly recommend the gamakatsu hooks posted above for this technique. They provided some of the best hook penetration I’ve seen while using a Texas rigged plastic.

Largemouth BassTechniqueLipless CrankbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationI just spent 2 weeks fishing on toho. The most consistent bite for me was in big hydrilla flats. Any place you could find hydrilla grown up to about 5 feet in 9 feet of water. You had to cover lots of water. So the storm Arashi was the deal. Ripping it thought the tops would get the bass to react. Important to have the right set up. 20 sufix advanced Flo and 7.3 med hvy rod and a fast reel. G

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLily PadsWinding a chatter bait through the pad stems to get reaction strikes from spawning fish has been the most consistent way to get bites. They haven't been committing to the bait on the outside edges of late. Hopefully the warmer weather gets them moving around more.
