TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureReedsFished Saturday from 7am-3pm, it was hot and a light SE wind in the morning that died out by noon. Water temps starting at 85 got up to 94 by the time I got off the water. The morning had a good bite on the gambler burner worm fished very slow on the edge of the Kissimmee grass. I caught a pair of 21” bass and a bunch of smaller ones. After it started getting hot I moved to offshore grass and brush piles to pick up a few more decent fish on a Zoom Magnum UV Speedworm I’m Junebug fished with a 1/4oz weight. My best five fish were 91.75” which put me in 2nd place in the Kayak Anglers of Florida State Championship.

TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationLook for the offshore grass clumps and work them with a Gambler Big EZ and with the COG swamp swimmer. It’s hot out and the fish are holding in the offshore grass and the isolated hydrilla clumps.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureReedsFished this morning from 6:30-11:30. Wind was pretty light out of the south. Water temps were cooler than I expected starting at about 84 and warming to 87 by the time I left. I fished the Kissimmee grass that was exposed to the wind in 4-5 foot of water. I did pretty well, with a bunch of 13”-16” fish and two nicer ones. The biggest at 25.25”.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationFished behind Paradise Island and got 3 in a couple hours that I was able to fish, 4.05lbs, pictured, 3.13lbs and another that was around a pound and a half. All were caught on the Gambler worm, missed 3 before I got the first one and a few others as well as a couple that got off after wrapping me up in the vegetation.

TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSummerStructureMatted GrassFind any isolated type grass around mid lake 5 to 8ft deep. Use a watermelon red Fluke with a #3 or 4 heavy wire hook. Put a swivel about 12 inches in front. Cast in the grass. Let it sit for a minute. Then start twitching it back about 10 ft. Pause and repeat. Once on the outside edge let the Fluke sink to the bottom and twitch it back to the boat. DO NOT WORK THIS FAST. I use 20lb braid on a 3000 reel with a 10ft 15lb mono leader, 7ft Med Hvy spinning rod. When you hook up and you can't get their head up to surf them back go in a get it. Keep a tight line and pin them to the top of the grass. It acts like a wet blanket and holds them there.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationThe day started with a 10 mph east to south east wind then settled down around 8-9 am then picked up again a little by 10 - 11am. Fishing on the west side of the lake; I threw the Jackhammer along side of the Kissimmee grass. Water depth was around 5 foot with a clarity of about 2-3 feet. There was a mix of hydrilla and pepper grass submerged and the fish seemed to be sitting on top of that grass. Didn't get bit on any grass that was topped out. Most of my bites came from either popping it out of the submerged grass or just randomly giving the bladed jig a good jump to get that reaction bite. Nothing on the straight retrieve. All the fish were about 1.5 - 2 pounds, a couple in the 3 pound range.
