Also caught bass in the same area using a small popper and if wood was present, I would cast a zoom horny toad over and around those areas with some success. Fished in the annual Take a Vet Fishing event and everyone who participated had a great time. My first time as a boat captain and I thoroughly enjoyed being there.

Caught largemouth around matted grass by bluegill beds on top waters. I also caught a few around docks with a swim jig.

Also caught largemouth around wood in shores that had a covering of slop and duckweed mixed. Looks like the spawn has wrapped up and now the bluegill are taking over the nests.

Water was clear in the river and fish were located on structure and on weed edges.

Water temps about 80 degrees most places. Overcast and windy this morning. I was fishing outside weed edges in 8-10 with the wind blowing into them. A chatterbait and and white double willow burned over the top some good bites. Later in the morning I picked up a couple throwing a Spro Bronzeye frog near rocks and shoreline vegetation. Strikes came within a foot or two of shore.

First time out on Waubesa today prepping for a kayak tournament on Monday. Had 10 bass on and landed 8. I hooked into 6 bass all under one specific dock which is the most I have ever picked up off of one dock before. One of the fish I landed was a northern towards the end of the day. The bite is hot on Waubesa right now and if you are considering fishing there I would recommend you do!

The 2 pound largies are feeding up hard on the blue gills! I pulled 4 off one bluegill bed area alone. Fish those swim jigs right over the tops and around the weed edges and you’ll smash them!
