TechniqueUmbrella RigsSeasonSummerStructureRiver ChannelsWhitney has some of the best striper fishing in all of Texas in my opinion. The best way I've found I can catch them is an A rig during the summertime chasing them all across the lake when they make the shad run. They will start in the backs of river channels and creeks in the morning and slowly push the bait all the way out to the main lake as the day goes on.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureLaydownsThis report is for the Brazos River, which flows SE from the southern dam of Lake Whitney towards Waco. The River is flowing slow and is shallow in spots, but it is on fire when it comes to the black bass cruising up and down the Brazos River. Much of the River follows along a beautiful rock wall on its eastern edge, holding deeper holes and structure for the Bass to push bait against and feed. There are numerous laydowns and vegetation mats growing along the edge of the river channel, providing quick ambush points and shade. Fish along laydowns and edges of vegetation with texas rigged soft plastics or wacky rigged senkos. Weeds and shallow water make spinnerbaits difficult, but weightless and weedless presentations or topwater will have you catching bass. Look for deeper holes along the channel up against the rock wall for lurkers and play the current for some great hookups.
