Fish were holding to shade early in the evening, but water temps in the mid 80's made them pretty lethargic. Lots of half hearted hits on wacky worms, t-rigged stick baits but no quality fish until the sun started going down. Once the sun was down, top water prop baits and poppers started firing off really well and caught some quality fish.

After several days of rain, I knew the bite would be slow especially in the middle of the day. I haven't ever fished a Neko rig before but it seemed to be what I should try. I caught a 15 in bass out of a hole in the weeds in about 6 ft of water. It ended up being the only fish I caught even after going back through that same area with a couple different baits. Time was short so I didn't fish any longer. At least I wasn't skunked.
