Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationFound the bass on the deep weedline in 14-16 feet. Wind-blown points were the most productive. The heavy jackhammer worked well, but the 6” Final Copy swimbait caught more and all of the larger ones. Caught a bonus musky on a Spro KGB Chad Shad.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationLots of fish moving onto weeds now. Largemouth bass, pike, walleyes and even smallmouth bass are all eating swimbaits around submerged weed beds. The key has been finding schools of baitfish staging on the edges of the best standing weeds and fishing 4" swimbaits around them.

CrappieTechniqueVertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19')SeasonSummerStructureOpen Water/BasinThe late summer crappie bite is beginning to move away from cover and out to the basin. We have found fish close to the weed edges we found them on earlier this summer but they are starting to move away from those weeds and suspend in 16 to 25 feet of water nearby. A great way to target these fish is to vertical fish a jig and plastic, such as a Clam Mino, on a small jighead. Mark the school on sonar and drop down to them. Make them chase it up, and they will usually crush it!
