Smallmouth BassTechniqueFinesse Hair JigsSeasonFallStructurePilingsTons of smallmouth near deep holes but up on the flats where the transition from 4-6’ in sand in rocks occurs. Current needed to be light, bridge posts produced in similar water conditions
Species
Smallmouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonFallStructureRip RapSmall swimbaits popped up and down off the bottom. The cold front seemed to turn off the bass and they weren’t chasing anything. Like the smaller hook of the guppy head for more action when working the swimbait slowly.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsRiver has been rising with all the rain we’ve been getting but the bite was hot in the afternoon we got out for a couple hours from 3-5:30. Went down two floats that were pretty productive ended up with 22 on for the trip all ranging in size from 18.5 to 15. Fish are looking super healthy and thick. Fish were eating really good. The mini chatter bait with an el Diablo middle baits baby d bomb was an unreal pairing. Allows you to cover a lot of water quickly with a lot of precise casts. Being that the water was up and moving quick finding little pockets of slower water seemed to be where the fish were hanging out. Overall a great outing.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsThey weren't exactly jumping into the boat but caught around 15 smallies tonight. Beat the banks and docks searching for fish with the squarebill. Most of the fish caught were up very tight to the bank. The current was pretty strong especially as we got closer to the Champlin bridge.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonFallStructureRiver ChannelsSmall swimbaits and Ned rigs did all the damage. Jerkbait wasn’t productive, Walter clarity was 8’, water was low and current was decent. Fish were spread out and really anywhere from flats, to deep holes and heavy current to Eddie’s.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureRiver ChannelsPretty tough fishing, current and water levels are dropping and water was down about a foot in 4 days. fish were near but not on any structure. Faster current was key and deeper water. Bite was slow and was almost exclusively a ned rig day...
