The smallies were a bit lethargic and non-committal. Topwater was ineffective. Casting wacky under branches and into stumps produced quality fish, just not quantity. The water was relatively low even with the recent heavy rains.

Topwater bite is best mid day when the shade pockets are the smallest. Slack water with shade and a storm chug bug will produces better quality fish. To catch numbers 1-3 foot rock with slower current and a ned rig or small tube has been best. The bigger smallmouth sit in 3-8 foot slack water when not feeding and are harder to get to bite.

River is really high and flipping wood is a good way to get some bigger bites. As the river drops they should get back on rocks and current breaks.

Smallies mostly on crankbaits, a nice walleye too. Liked the current and a hump breaking up the current they were on top of the humps

Boated some nice fish, biggest was my buddy with a 19 1/4”. Some on plastics but mid divers were king.
