Fished a club tournament out of Loyston Point. Had to deal with a cold front with rain and gusty wind after a week of mid 80 degree temperatures. Water temperature was steady at around 57.5 degrees. Fished outside points going into spawning areas looking for bait fish near large rock close to deep water. To get bit we had to postion the boat in about 20 feet and work the structure jig into about 8 to 12 feet slowly when the wind was blowing. Caught 2 short and one small keeper on structure jig on the outside bend of the points. When the wind died down would target the same areas with the Megabass Sleeper Craw. Caught my biggest fish over 3 lbs and 2 other keepers as the craw came off large chunk rock. Late afternoon Caught a few short fish on a neko rigged senko un same areas I caught them on the Sleeper Craw. The fish were in a funk and did not want to chase. All the fish caught on the structure jig was bearly hooked yet the Structure Craw were down in the crushers. At weigh-in you could see that the large mouth appeared to have not spawned yet and a majority of the smallmouth appeared to have already spawned. With Temps rising this week the large mouth should be in full spawn mode and smallmouth will be more into a post spawn mode. All and all a good day and a 4th place finish on a wet, cold and tough day.
