Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureShadThey are on bait. Don’t waste time combing the ledges yet, we are still a few weeks out. Head shallow and cover water. If they are there you will find them.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Body SwimbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationFound a decent bite in and around the ledges of flats. Beware catfish love this as well. You will have to cover a ton of water to find fish that will commit, but patience is key. Retrieve at a moderate pace and prepare to be pummeled.

CatfishTechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSummerStructureHumpsThe actual Bait was a "River2Sea Ish Monroe Bling Double Willow Spinnerbait" (I Know It Color). Reel was a 13 Fishing concept z2 slide (7.5.1). Was also fishing with the Megabass spinner bait that day, so I added it here because that was the closest option. Sucker weighed in at 9.22 lbs. Was fishing blowups on flats and humps to the side of the main channel in less than 2ft of water. Second time that day and caught another one that was right 8.5 lbs. Hammered that spinner bait like a beast and drug me around in a kayak for more than a few minutes. Not the target species, but man, a lot of fun!
Species
Smallmouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructurePointsWind has been unrelenting but not crazy. This has the small jaws pushed up off of main lake points. You will have to run and gun until you find them, but it will be worth the gas money if you find the right ones. The water clarity has dinged a bit, but this has seemingly enhanced the bite. A secondary pattern and a reliable way to catch numbers of largies is running docks. When you find them with the moving baits, it will pay off to circle back with something slow (wacky rig, shakey head, drop shot, Ned rig).
