Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureLaydownsOn a day they should’ve been eating reaction baits, it seemed like the only place we could get bit were at the ends of deep lay downs or chunk rock that were near current breaks and also changes in bottom composition. I don’t think color was a big deal. They wanted something in there face that they could see in the super stained water.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureStanding TimberSpotted structure (sunken old barge pilings) and spotted her suspended amongst the near edge of the pilings. Casted past and burnt then pause, burnt past her and she shot out of the structure on the pause right in front of her. A lot of reaction bites today!

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Body SwimbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationThe girls were chewing today! They were orienting on weed bed edges, Southeast wind (Wind side of pocket). Casted deep (~8feet) and worked it shallow (~4feet). Chopped the glide with quarter reel turns and she bit right around the 5 foot range just past the weed line. Beautiful 5-9!

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureRock PileSunny, calm conditions made for a tough bite. Some fish are moving up to spawn, others still prespawn. Fish were spread out on hard cover and points.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationCasting the soft glide around small isolated submerged weed beds.

Largemouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsThe largemouth were holding tight to the laydowns, they seemed to be relating to the larger ones. I was catching them dead sticking a ned rig in 4-6ft. of water.

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThe dog days of summer can lead to tough fishing just about anywhere, and Onondaga is no different. But I found some decent success on this lake pitching a wacky-rigged Senko under docks and around thick vegetation for some nice largemouths. Try to focus your attention on the weed edges dropping into deeper water. Flipping/pitching texas rigged plastics or jigs could be another good option as well.

Largemouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationSeemed like a post spawn funk going on on the lake. Talked with 5 other boats on the water and nobody had caught anything except for a rock bass, so I felt privileged to find two decent largemouth dragging around a roboworm on a weedless drop shot. The grass was ripping out easily and didn't look good, so I am not sure if it was sprayed or something as well. The lake was fishing tough only a few weeks after they were being caught on almost anything. The fish I did find were right on edges of deeper lively isolated grass.
