I was able to get on a couple different patterns. I started the morning off covering water with topwater, chatterbait, and squarebill. I was catching good numbers of small ones on the bank but no size. So I moved out due to the water falling over the last week (0.75 ft) thinking maybe they had slid out to 4-10 foot. I started catching some small keepers skipping docks but not the size I was needing to win. Next I moved out to isolated brush piles in 8-12” and caught a 5.08 with the Texas rig. I didn’t have enough piles marked to run this pattern all day but kept looking for more near docks due to the sun coming out. I never got another good one in the boat but I think if you have piles found in that depth range and would run them all day you could put a quality bag together. Also think topwater bite will get good soon…….just need water to stabilize and have some more cool nights for it to get going. If you just want bites I would throw a squarebill and cover water. I probably caught 10 fish in the first 30-45 min but the biggest was 12”.
