Largemouth BassTechniqueMedium Diving Crankbaits (7'-12')SeasonWinterStructureRip RapThe weather broke just enough for me to be willing to go out on the lake. The water is stained and the water temp by the damn was pushing towards 55 late in the day. I fished around main lake points to start of with. I was throwing a Carolina rig with a 18” leader dragging a 3/4 oz. tungsten bullet weight and a 1/0 vmc EWG and a zoom speed craw in watermelon red. I fished it slow and fished it for most of the day and only managed 5 fish for a 12 lb bag. Once the clouds moved in I headed to the dam to throw crankbaits up against riprap. It was the right move. I was paralleling the bank and I was fishing a 5 xd in sexy shad banging it off the rock and the bass were slack lining me. It was an awesome way to end the day.

Conditions were a bit tough, but patience paid off. Catch Details: Landed four bass, with the biggest weighing 3 lbs 9 oz. The bite wasn’t aggressive, so finesse was key. Tactics & Lures: • The most productive technique was using a weightless worm, letting it sink naturally before adding a few subtle twitches to create movement. • The bites were light and spaced out, requiring a slow and methodical approach. Final Thoughts: Bass seemed lethargic, likely due to cooler water temps, but a finesse presentation proved effective. Not the most action-packed day, but still a solid outing on Sam Rayburn. As temperatures start to warm, expect the bite to gradually improve. Would recommend sticking to slow-moving presentations and targeting areas with deeper structure until fish become more active. Tight lines! 🎣
