Largemouth Bass
TechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonSummerStructurePointsThe main lake points early morning. They were eating the buzz bait very well. Some you barely put one crank on it and they smashed it. Hit those points you cannot hit, due to boat traffic or swimmers, later in the day. Very few people fish them and you will get a leg up.

TechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSummerStructurePointsWe were able find several good schools of 2 5-4lb bass grouped up on underwater points where the sloughs meet the creeks. Crankbaits, carolina rigs, and flutter spoons were the best producers. We had one flurry of 17 fish in 25 minutes.

Got to the lake around 8:30pm fished off the boat ramp at Caney creek with a bone sexy dawg, and a green pumpkin chartreuse dinger. The wife used a googan slizzard in toxic waste color. Each of us caught one small bass each. Less than a lb. Still had fun. Bugs weren’t too bad. Called it a day around 10pm.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureOpen Water/BasinThis report is for Bouton Lake on the southwest end of Sam Rayburn. We went out mid day around 3pm. Tried to use the old faithful worm but couldn’t get a bite. Switched to the lizard and caught one. Go pro overheated right before I caught it. I was able to power it back on for the release. Wife caught three on the lizard also. There is a small pond to the east something big lives in there. Snapped my line ate my bait in half and it snapped my wife’s line. Couldn’t get a good hook set. But it was a fighter. Bugs weren’t bad but I always use repellant anyway.

TechniqueDeep Diving Crankbaits (13'+)SeasonSummerStructureLedgesWent out around 7pm. Fished a peek north of Hanks Creek with a strike king 6xd 3” sexy shad. Spent about an hour and a half on the water caught only one bass and a decent size gar. (Lots more in the area BIG ones.) the ledge I was on was from 10-24 feet. Had a couple more gar bites that just tore up my crank bait. This July heat is some tough fishing. But I’m like Rick Astley and I’m never gonna give you up.
