TechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureOpen Water/BasinThis report is for Bouton Lake on the southwest end of Sam Rayburn. We went out mid day around 3pm. Tried to use the old faithful worm but couldn’t get a bite. Switched to the lizard and caught one. Go pro overheated right before I caught it. I was able to power it back on for the release. Wife caught three on the lizard also. There is a small pond to the east something big lives in there. Snapped my line ate my bait in half and it snapped my wife’s line. Couldn’t get a good hook set. But it was a fighter. Bugs weren’t bad but I always use repellant anyway.

Crappie
TechniqueVertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19')SeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesPiles were hit or miss. Saw lots of small crappie on piles while other piles were empty. Best piles seemed to be in the 20' range. Water temps 87-93. Lake is still about 2.5' high and falling. We used a variety of hand tied jigs with shad colors working best

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationDecided to go fishing las minute Saturday night. Got to the lake around 8:30pm fished off the boat ramp at Caney creek with a bone sexy dawg, and a green pumpkin chartreuse dinger. The wife used a googan slizzard in toxic waste color. Each of us caught one small bass each. Less than a lb. Still had fun. Bugs weren’t too bad. Called it a day around 10pm.
