Went out around 7pm. Fished a peek north of Hanks Creek with a strike king 6xd 3” sexy shad. Spent about an hour and a half on the water caught only one bass and a decent size gar. (Lots more in the area BIG ones.) the ledge I was on was from 10-24 feet. Had a couple more gar bites that just tore up my crank bait. This July heat is some tough fishing. But I’m like Rick Astley and I’m never gonna give you up.

Bass were busting shad on top, drug carolina rig and texas rig below them 8-20' on the break

Crankbaits, carolina rigs, and flutter spoons were the best producers. We had one flurry of 17 fish in 25 minutes.

The main lake points early morning. They were eating the buzz bait very well. Some you barely put one crank on it and they smashed it. Hit those points you cannot hit, due to boat traffic or swimmers, later in the day. Very few people fish them and you will get a leg up.

Decided to go fishing las minute Saturday night. Got to the lake around 8:30pm fished off the boat ramp at Caney creek with a bone sexy dawg, and a green pumpkin chartreuse dinger. The wife used a googan slizzard in toxic waste color. Each of us caught one small bass each. Less than a lb. Still had fun. Bugs weren’t too bad. Called it a day around 10pm.
