Dragging the dark sleeper across rocky shoals along the bottom, letting the current bring it back to me and keeping it ticking along the bottom.

Drifting in 6-12 feet with drop shot. Long leader and let bail out to get distance from boat. Some bedding fish remain and will gobble up natural colors in the clear water. Others are roaming and eating swim baits in same depth in natural colors.

We initially tried to get out on Lake Ontario, but the winds were too strong. Afterwards, we fished all day in the river primarily using a 1/2 ounce Beast Coast football jigs with Ned worm trailers (we used the Berkley max scent Lil general in green pumpkin and the 3 inch Roboworm Ned worm in Aaron’s Magic Red/Black Flake - both were productive). We drifted the jigs in current along rocky ledges just outside the grass - the bite was great in the river channel. We caught 25-30 smallmouth drifting jigs in 10 feet - 40 feet of water. If we saw fish on livescope, we would cast drop shot Roboworms (4.5 inch straight tails in Aaron’s Magic). We caught several that were in small groups of 1-3 fish that were spotted on Garmin livescope. I also caught a 12.5 pound drum on the football jig that put up a great fight. It was a great day and we caught several quality fish in the 3.5 - 4 pound range.

Caught the majority of the fish today up shallow cruising flats and transition areas where they are leaving beds to move into their summer post spawn patterns
