Thole is a shallow lake with a max depth of 10-12', and this year it seems to be down a foot or two from last year. The number of weeds varies from year to year, and I'm posting this report to let you know the WHOLE lake has thick, emergent weeds to the surface. It is awful. Unless you know how to handle the situation on this specific lake, I'd go elsewhere.

Weeds are already moving in quick and the lily pads are spreading high. Did not see much activity in deeper areas. We had the best luck closer to the shallows along the weed line and lily pads. Wife hit a few jerking the Super Fluke while I shortened my drop shot leader to about 6-8” and looked at the transitions towards the deeper area.

Line your tip ups hooked with sucker minnows just to the West of the boat landing and along the shoreline of the bordering road.

Punch thick grass and lilipads with pegged Texas rigs. You can also fish stick baits just outside of the weed edge. The water is getting stained so natural baits with flashy chartreuse tails seemed to have worked best

Work the points and shoreline using green pumpkin, watermelon red flake or purple 5" Senko style worm. Working very slowly throw it out wait and then wait some more and keep close eye on your line you see movement set the hook
