The ice has been off for a few days now and water temps this morning started off in the mid 40's. I targeted steeper transitions near flats in 6-8 feet of water. Fish were grouped up on spots that had a mixture of chunk rock and wood cover. I started off throwing a Bomber Fat Free shad in a color I call Fried Green Tomato and then moved to a Spro RKCrawler in a green ghost craw pattern. My setup was a Shimano Curado 201K in 7.4:1 spooled with 10 pound Seaguar Red Label on a St croix Mojo Glass 6'10 Medium cranking rod. I ended the day with some nice fish including two over 5 pounds.
