Conditions looked pretty similar to the day before, dirty water up the Osage and Pomme arms, and cleaner water down the Grand arm, but we chose to stick with the dirtier water approach. How the Day Unfolded We worked those spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and crankbaits around main lake and secondary points, and while it wasn’t the cleanest day of fishing, we had our chances. We ended up with four fish for 11.5 pounds total. Lost a couple of good ones in the 4-5 pound range that could’ve changed the game, but hey, that’s fishing! Key Takeaway: Focus on Points The pattern was clear: if you weren’t fishing points, you weren’t getting bit. With the lake drawn down a couple of feet, fish were stacking up around those rock transition areas. We had around 8 or 9 keeper bites and boated four. Not our best day, but it sets us up to come back stronger for the Solo Series Top 100 in a couple weeks. Gear Up and Save If you’re heading to Truman Lake soon, keep it simple: jigs, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and square bills are your go-tos. And remember, you can grab all your tackle at Omnia. Use code LUKE10 to save 10% on everything and get yourself set up right.

I like to use a really small weight and a straight shank flipping hook. It seems to have a better landing percentage than an EWG. I think the elaztech bunches up on the EWG hooks.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShallow Diving Crankbaits (0-6')SeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureStumpsThis past weekend 4/16 I ran all the way up the south grand near Clinton. I found a very large school of bass staging on a secondary point with stumps in about 8 ft of water. The stumps were topping out at about 3-5 under the water although the depth was 8 ft I was able to effectively make contact with the stumps with my squarebill eliciting a strong reaction bite. In this section of the lake, it is very easy to repeat this pattern, and I did so for the remainder of my day. Look for points that have timber that is not sticking out of the water, and there will likely be a good amount of bass in the area.
