We found the fish close to cover either in laydowns in 2'-5' of water or related to stumps on points in 15'-20' of water. To trigger a bite, you had to slow crawl a jig right against the cover to trigger a strike.

Spotted bass will pile up on dock pilings on the front corners of docks with deep water on them. Every now and then bites will come further back on the dock, but locate docks with at least 15 feet of water at the edge of them. Fishing a jerk bait or a shakey head right up against them can produce a lot of numbers.
