Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureRock PileSoft plastic swim baits work great this time of year. Fish aren't necessarily on the bottom or the top of the water column. You can cover water, and fish at multiple depths. Start shallow in the morning and move out to the points in the afternoon.

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureDocksFish are up super shallow. Shade lines of docks, typical spring stuff. Riot baits baton, weightless with the Hayabusa wacky hooks keep ‘em pinned!

Spotted BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureDocksCaught 35+ spotted bass using a green pumpkin Berkley Flat Worm on the ends of docks in deeper water. Caught some shallow but found that the larger fish were out deep. Repeated this pattern in multiple coves. No giants but most between 1.5-1.75 lbs.

Spotted BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureRip RapI had the best luck fishing rip rap banks or rocky points that transition to deeper water. You will have fish doing all kinds of things this time of year, some heading in to spawn still. Some have finished and headed back out. You can usually find both groups in these places and they will all eat a jerkbait.

Largemouth BassTechniqueNeko RigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureDocksWe caught bass skipping true center sticks both with a Neko rig setup and a weightless texas rig up under docks ranging from 6 inches to 17 feet deep. I literally would wait and watch the bass chase the bait all the way to the bottom as it slowly sunk, and then as soon as it touched the bottom they would eat it. If it was anything more than 1/16 oz, they wouldn't eat it for us. Not usually an issue I run into but we had them pretty dialed to catch numbers during this tournament. Fish seemed to be isolated on the dock posts rather than way up under the docks. Especially in marinas. We didn't have to worry about skipping things way up under boats and working it out, we would legitimately make one cast at each support post on the outside of the docks, and that's where we were getting bit. I have the youtube footage to prove it, which I will release in the next couple weeks. We were catching fish anywhere from 15 inches up to 3.5 pounds. We caught one 15 incher that had 2 3 pounders and a 6 pounder chase it out when I hooked it.
