Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsThe fish are moving up on beds but I think the best is still to come. Look for fish on nests around lay downs or other cover.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsThe speed craw is great for bed fishing which is getting ready to break loose. There are fish on beds but it has been tough at times with cold fronts coming in. If that’s not happening the smallmouth have been biting as well. A ned rig has worked and a Jerkbait as well. Fishing the conditions is the most important thing because in Oklahoma in the spring you never know what weather you will get.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructurePointsSmallmouth are up shallow and on the move… this means you should be too because they usually won’t stay in the same place. We found that covering water was best for getting on smallmouth. Big rocks and points were best for targeting smallies. Livescope is a great tool to use for getting on these fish. They seem to be in 5-15 feet.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureBaitfishFish are moving up shallow and are out deep as well. You could literally catch fish on topwater right now because they are chasing bait fish and blowing up on them which is unusual for early March. Find the baitfish and suspended bass. Some bass are hanging with the sandbass which are also hanging with the bait. A Jerkbait and Minnow style bait were our best baits along with a few others like an A rig and Chatterbait.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Large)SeasonWinterStructurePointsThe water is very cold which is probably making the bite incredibly tough. If you can find fish on ffs that helps and you will likely catch them, but finding them is the hard part. We caught some fish on the Jerkbait and we had some big fish follow back the Huddleston. Don’t be fooled, we did not catch many and had few followers, but if you want to catch a giant those two baits should definitely be in the water. Also, the A-rig is a must have. Hopefully the water warms up which will help the bite immensely. Also the closer to March we get the more fish will be moving up Good luck and hope that helps.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonWinterStructureRock PileThe water is still fairly cold but the Bass are biting. Target rock piles and points. The fish are also hanging around big balls of baitfish as well. They seem to be in the 10-15 foot range more consistently but there are definitely fish deeper in the 15-25 and possibly deeper.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged Vegetation2 early morning fish came on a black Buzz bait. Bite slowed once the sun came up until the cloud cover rolled over and the swimbait bite started up. Had several fish in the 3-5 lb range swirl at the cullshad and managed to boat a few. Will have a couple more colors next time I go out to see if a slight change will make a few more commit.
