Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Pitch/Flip)SeasonSummerStructureDocksThe highlight of the day came when I pitched my lure under a dock, letting it fall right at the edge of the grass line in about 3–4 feet of water. Almost immediately, I felt a strong, deliberate thump and set the hook hard. The fish surged into the grass and wrapped me up for a moment, but steady pressure brought it free. After a spirited fight with a few strong dives under the dock, I brought in a beautiful largemouth bass measuring 19.5 inches and weighing approximately 4 pounds. The fish was healthy and thick — a perfect example of the quality bass that make Lake Rousseau a favorite among Florida anglers. Even in less-than-ideal weather, Lake Rousseau delivered. The combination of heavy rain and cooler temperatures seemed to position the fish tight to cover, and the grass lines along docks proved to be the ticket. Patience, precise casting, and working the bait slow paid off with an excellent catch. Conditions Recap: • Weather: Heavy, steady rain; overcast skies • Water: Slightly stained, calm • Structure: Grass lines along wooden docks • Presentation: Slow and deliberate around pilings and grass edges • Result: One memorable 19.5” (4 lb) largemouth bass, plus a few smaller bites throughout the day
