I fished shallow Saturday morning, mainly targeting 3-8 f.o.w on flats just off the main river channel. The key was weeds. The walleye and sauger were up in there chasing bait. Jig and plastic saw the most action and produced more bites. Casting cranks was also effective at triggering fish. Most fish were "shorts" with one 18" walleye caught.

Smallmouth bite was very good this past weekend with most bites coming from main river bluff walls that had adjacent deep water. These areas with small eddy's almost guaranteed fish. Wacky rigged Senko and Ned craws were my most productive baits.
