Today I went out to the river where there were very tiny shad running. All the shad was 2-3 inches. All the spotted bass today were focused on eating tiny shad so the I had to throw a shad imitation that is the same size. Today I threw the super fluke jr nose hooked. I threw the nose hook fluke on a st croix mojo bass M 7’1 spinning with a daiwa fuego 3000. I had it spoiled with 10lb braid and 12lb mono leader. The water was pretty clear so I chose a more natural color fluke. The area I was fishing was pretty shallow, with some deep holes occasionally. I was targeting those deep holes with slack water. The spotted bass will hide in the deep slack areas waiting for the shad to go through. Most of the fish I caught, I was working the fluke pretty slow, giving enough time for the fish to see it and come out the deep holes to eat it. Most of the bites were visual because the fluke stays within 1 ft of the surface.

Today it was raining this morning so I went out to a local dam for a couple hours in the afternoon after the rain died down. I was just fishing for whatever was going to bite at the dam. Usually anything will bite shad imitation baits at the dam. Today I was throwing my favorite tiny swimbait, the megabass spark shad on and megabass 1/8 jig head. I was throwing this bait on a st croix mojo bass paired with a daiwa ballistic mq 2500 with 15lb braid and 12lb leader. Since it was raining tall morning, the water was more murky than it usually is. Also the current was pretty strong because they had multiple gates open. With the current being so strong, I targeted areas with slower currents where fish might be located. I managed to get on 3 nice size crappies and a couple dink spotted bass. Slack water is the best area to fish when the current is rlly strong. Most fish will go to those areas to stay out of the strong current.
