The bite was flat out active. There was no shortage of hooksets all day long, and the Tank Jig definitely did some damage. I mixed in a few other baits just to keep tabs on what the fish were willing to do, and it became pretty clear there are multiple ways to catch them right now. We focused on clear water flooded bushes around spawning areas, and the fish were set up exactly where you’d expect them to be this time of year. Flipping those bushes was by far the most consistent pattern, but there were also plenty of opportunities to get bites up top. Frogs and glide baits both produced, especially when covering water and triggering reaction bites, but if you wanted steady action, flipping was the deal. Most of our bites came shallow, tight to that flooded cover. While we didn’t run into a lot of big ones, the numbers made up for it in a big way. We were probably in the neighborhood of 50 hooksets on the day, which made for a fun and productive trip. When I set the jig down, I picked up a 1/2 oz tungsten weight paired with a beaver-style bait and a Trokar TK130 flipping hook. That setup is always a reliable bite-getter anytime you’re around flooded cover, and it continued to produce throughout the day. Key Takeaways: * Target flooded bushes in clear water near spawning areas * Flipping is the most consistent pattern * Frogs and glide baits can generate explosive topwater bites * Fish are shallow and set up tight to cover * Expect numbers over size right now If you’re heading to Pomme, keep it simple. Tie on your favorite shallow water baits, get around flooded bushes, and you should be in for a better-than-average day with plenty of action. If you’re low on spring tackle, now’s a great time to restock. You can grab everything you need from Omnia Fishing and use code Luke10 to save 10%.

CrappieTechniqueVertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19')SeasonSummerStructureBrush PilesCaught two limits Sunday morning. Crappie were supsended off of brush piles. Caught with tube on 1/16oz jig head. Cast past brush pile, count for an 8-10ft fall, then reel bait in. Can catch 2-5 fish for brush pile. Vertical jigging with pile over boat was also effective

Largemouth BassTechniqueMedium Diving Crankbaits (7'-12')SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructurePointsFished the Joe Bass Team Trail tournament. Had a good day except couldn't buy a keeper. I caught 23 bass with only one keeper and this is a 13" lake. 1.67 lbs. Pomme seldom whips me, but did this time. A few fish on top water running early shade, the rest on the 3XD on rocky points.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructurePointsGet out early! Pomme de Terre was on fire from June 2nd through the 4th. The morning bite was great near channel swings and bluff ends. Most of our action up until about 7:30-8 came on a 1/2oz black and blue Jack Hammer with a blk/blu The Goat trailer. Keeper (over 13" at Pomme) largemouth were crushing that in 1-8' of water. My buddy was throwing a black spinnerbait which was also getting bit, but not nearly as frequent as that Jack Hammer. After the sun got up I could get some keeper bites on various lures such as the LV500 lipless in Ghost Minnow. I tried a different brand and in chrome, and it didn't produce for me. Side note, all spices of other fish were hitting that LV500 as well, white bass, drum, carp, kentuckys, etc. As good as the lipless was getting bit (on the right banks) our most consistant late morning-afternoon bite was with a soft-plastic on the bottom. On most of the bluff ends or transistions we were consistantly picking up keepers. The key for us was fishing it slow with either a 3/16 or 1/4oz weight. I was using a paited weight, but I'm not sure if that mattered since they were biting various colors of soft plastic baits. Between my buddy and I, in 3 days of fishing we caught at LEAST 50 keepers. The weather is pretty stable right now, I would think the bite on these baits will hold up for a while.

Day 1 they were in the bushes and day 2 they pulled in front of the bushes. I really believe with the dirty high rising water the rattles played a part in our bite
