Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLily PadsThrowing a fire craw jackhammer over submerged Lilly pads on high tide. The 5-1/2” trailer got me a couple short strikes. I think I’ll switch up to the 4-1/2” spunk shad next trip.

Largemouth BassTechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureLaydownsWorking down the bank with a shaky head. 4lber choked it on the retrieve. She was swimming with it and I didn’t even know she was there at first. To make matters worse, I was fumbling with the net like a rookie. Amateur hour. 😂

Largemouth BassTechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructurePilingsLot of rain came in over the past week so the river was chocolate milk. I couldn’t get bit on a moving bait. Fished around pilings with a shaky head and black trick worm and landed a couple. Water temp was reading 48 on the depth finder, so I expect it to get better in the coming weeks.

Largemouth BassTechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThe 5th stop of the MLF Pro Circuit was on the Potomac River June 17-20th. I had a strong tournament finishing up in 27th place after catch 14.75lbs on day 1 and 2, then finished the tournament with just over 12lbs for a three day total of 41lbs 10 ounces. This event I had a 1/2oz green pumpkin Z-Man Jackhammer locked in my hand. I used a green pumpkin and hot snakes colored Razor Shadz as a trailer depending on the water clarity in the areas I was fishing. The hot snakes help the bait stand out a little better. The areas I was keying on were grass flats. There were little feeding windows throughout the day depending on the tide with the last two hours of outgoing seeming to be the best. Largemouth BassTechniqueShakey HeadsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureDocksBites picking up. Water was slightly stained and rain was off and on. We caught 20+ large mouth in the Potomac River around Mallows Bay over about an 8hr stretch. I caught most on a Junebug trick worm rigged on a 1/8oz shaky head. Another “hot bait” today was a chartreuse Baby One Minus Crankbait. Today, to my surprise, the Chatterbait struck out.

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructureDocksBite was a little slower then expected. I threw a lot of different options, but all 6 bass for the day came on a wacky rigged watermelon red magic senko. We were skipping docks at Aquia Creek off the Potomac

Largemouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonSpring (Pre-Spawn)StructurePilingsCaught 20+ bass, mostly 13-15.5” around marina pilings. Wood and metal pilings both held fish. Best pilings were in ~8’ of water. Some fish holding in slightly deeper water but could not get them to bite. Others had some success on large grass flats where the grass has just begun to grow. Using my own hand poured worms. Closely resemble Zoom trick worms and Roboworms.
