We found most of our success targeting windblown riprap banks. The bass using these banks were mostly prespawn with some post spawners mixed in. Medium running crankbaits and slow rolling a spinnerbait produced most of the bites.

Mother Nature just won't make up her mind with the temps lately, and has dumped tons of water on us making fishing quite tough around the Rez. We focused on post-spawn bass this week in small cuts off of main creek channels, as well as some ditches that push our from Pelahatchie Bay. My best bites came at the five-foot level on a Neko or Wacky Worm setup. I used both the free fall and weighted worms, with good bites from the heavy nose around stumps and new grass forming under the surface. Not gonna lie, it's been tough fishing for keeper bass thus far this Spring. We catch a lot of bass off the rip rap early and late, but no keeper sizes. Cranks at 5-7 feet and swim jigs getting it done there. Fighting the crappie fishermen for fishing space is getting crazy near the dam. Hopefully will have better report at the end of May.

The spawn has started . A couple of 8 lbers have been caught in last week. Lots of males up shallow and big girls have followed.

Hard fishing with the pre-Spring cold front that moved through. The hot fishing just one week before turned off like a switch and the bass moved to deeper water in the river channel and dredged boat slips. Windy conditions made it almost unbearable on the water, but persistence paid off with a few bass in the boat. The bites didn't come often, but when they did, we caught suspended bass at around 11 feet on deep-dive crankbaits. Long casts past fish we found on the display, then stop-n-go once we were over suspended fish. Tough fishing, but patience got us a few in the boat.
