As the weeds start to lay down as fall approaches, the big schools of bluegills that were hiding in those weeds start to get pushed into the open and the predators are waiting! I wailed on a nice mixed bag of largemouth bass, pike and even a big dogfish/bowfin last weekend slow-rolling a 5" swimbait along deep weed edges off large weed flats. Use a 1/2 and up jighead to keep the bait down over those deep weeds and just slowly roll it along with a short stop or quick speed up here and there but always returning back to that slow roll.
