Was able to catch a few pitching the small worm shallow around laydowns and rock on the bank for smallmouth on beds. In the afternoon caught a few non keeper Largemouth making long casts to mud lines with the S-waiver and Magdraft. had several Largemouth follow the S-waiver back to the boat and they were in the 2 to 4 lbs range.

Bite was good early. Turned off around 9:00 with a front coming through. Club tournament was won with 14 lb of smallmouth. We had 9-1/2 lb of largemouth with four fish.

Weather was cloudy with no wind and rain in the forecast later in the afternoon. We were one of the last boats out of 123 to launch and we were able to hit a large creak arm pretty much by our selves for the 1st hour. . We kept the boat about 20 feet from the bank and took advantage of the sand spawn. Within 5 minutes I hooked up to a 2 lbs small mouth on the spinner bait with Keitec trailer. Had several more bites but didn't hook up. Finally had a nice 3 lbs large mouth hammer the spinner bait and as I boat flipped it it came unbuttoned and hit the center of the deck flopped 3 times and went overboard. My boater and I were both diving at it to keep it in and I am sure the other boats on the other side of the creek thought it was funny. Had one more keeper smallmouth come off just inches from the net. Caught several more short fish before the shad spawn ended. Rest of the day was a grind so switched to the drop shot and was able to boat 2 more keepers. I love using the 1/0 haymaker hook on my drop shot because the hook themselves 95% of the time and I can use it in cover and works great open water. All and all a God day on the water. Finished 19th with 8 lbs 9 oz and as I thought the bouncy bass cost me a top 10. But it's fishing and a great points day.

Find a bait that will get down to just above where they are holding and work it slowly back to the boat.

Fished all day and it was really tough finally got one to bite the spinnerbait while medium retriving over rocks in the shallower portions of the lake.
