Smallmouth BassTechniqueDrop ShotSeasonWinterStructureRock PileFished a club tournament on the lower Susquehanna River/Conowingo area and caught smallmouth and largemouth at the mouth of Broad Creek. My boater and I leveraged the drop shot and small jig head with Zoom Trick worms. The conditions were very windy, so we stayed inside the mouth of Broad Creek all day. Anglers who braved the white caps on the main river were able get nice fish throwing white and chartreuse spinner baits near the water's edge.

I was fishing boulders and rock ledges in 2-6 foot of water. I would let sit on the bottom and slight bounce the rod. The fish were generally eating on the pause on bottom.

65 degree day winds 5-10 light variable. Fished eddies behind rock ledges and large single boulders. Caught fish on black and blue 3/8 zman mini max. Great bait for smallmouth. Caught fish in pic on kvd 1.5 fishing near weedbeds. Caught most of my fish on molix finder jerkbait. Slender jerkbait that isn't made any longer. All baits fished on alpha angler rods and jerkbaits fished on alpha angler slasher and megabass levante jerkbait special. All reels were daiwa sv tw zillions. Phenomenal reels. Ended with 10 fish(missed 2) smallest one being 16.5 inches. 4 over 18 inches.

One guy caught over 20 in an 8 hr period unfortunatly my drive went up and I only got to fish for a short time. The first key was gold/black in the lightly stained water, white in the clear and black/blue in the muddy/heavily stained. The second was current seams, if you found a current seam and threw a spinner or top water you were going to get bit. The one pictured came on a 6th sense speed wake and if you have never thrown this bait you are missing out, I switched from the plopper, since everyone is throwing that, just to give a them a new presentation and its been paying off. That girl came flying out of the water and came down hard.
