Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Walking)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationCaught some good top water action walking a spook. Had a giant blow up on me right off the bat, right next tot he boat that scared the crud out of me and I jerked too soon. After that I was able to slow down and stick about 6-7 decent fish. Over the top of hydrilla in less than 10 feet depth. Be sure to change your hooks on all your top water and crankbaits to the triple grip hooks. I rarely lose a fish with those hooks. They really are the best for any bait that has treble hooks. The braided line was huge as well as some fish would drag it down into the grass, but with the braid and the triple grips I did not lose any but that first one.

Largemouth BassTechniqueHard Topwater (Popping)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationCaught them good on a Storm chug bug in chrome/black. They choked it, but you had to work it super slow and let it sit. The water level is up and the fish are scattered. Also caught a few on the Keitech paddle-tail 3" swimbait. I fished it on an underspin.

Largemouth BassTechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureStumpsShad were spawning on the base of the cypress stumps in the mid-lake area around the Pendleton Bridge. The key was to find the cypress stumps on the main lake that had 2-3 feet of water at the base and reel the spinnerbait as close to the cypress as possible. The most productive stumps trees would have shad follow the bait back to the boat on almost every cast.

Largemouth BassTechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationCaught a lot of fish this trip. All came from around the hay grass. Best bite came early while it was overcast and foggy. Alternated between the Senko in watermelon red and the white jackhammer with a zoom twin tail white trailer. Bite slowed down once the sun got up. Post spawn is in full-swing. Still can catch a few late spawners as well.

Largemouth BassTechniqueFootball JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureStumpsI fished main lake and secondary points on Toledo bend for the Bassmaster Open. I found some massive schools, but not much quality. The bigger bass I found were relating to stumps anywhere from 6-15 foot and were around any kind of isolated wood. I was able to make high percentage casts thanks to my humminbird 360 and garmin livescope to the cover or fish. Best producing baits were the football jig for covering water and a dropshot for livescoping fish.
