TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSummerStructureDocksMade it out for a full day on the Chick and can't say I "found the bite"... Was a bit of junk fishing: your typical cypress tree, pads and dock bite, but nothing specific that was "the deal". Caught 6 total, all of which were in the 2-3lb range. A few came on the swimjig, a few on the chatterbait, and a few on a neko rig. Threw around all of your typical Chick baits: a frog, buzzbait, wacky senko... Nothing.

TechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonSpring (Spawn)StructureStumpsBeing a kayak fisherman sometimes sight fishing is not an option, this spring throwing a weightless fluke around cypress stumps accounted for multiple large fish. When this bite was slow switching to a frog it the same areas of cypress knees caught fish as well.

TechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureStumpsCaught 15 fish today, 11 LMB, 1 Bowfin, 1 Pike and 1 Perch. All of the fish were caught in the shade at the base of a tree or stump in less than 3' of water. Topwater bite was non-existent. Other colors used today we're Green Pumpkin Candy Red and Watermelon Copper Orange.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureLily PadsEarly morning we produced a few good bites using the River2sea Whopper Plopper 90 and as the morning gave way to the sun you could find bass against seawalls and wood structure working a drop shot or a finesse jig (Dirty Jigs) However the bigger ones we found in the pads right now. Even in the sunlight coming across those pads with a Mat Daddy was something they could not resist.

TechniqueBuzzbaitsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationQuick trip to the river produced some good results. Throwing a buzz bait along the grass edges produced a good number of solid fish, I also threw a jackhammer into those same spots and ripped it through the grass producing bites. Anytime I was around cypress knees I went to the zoom finesse worm.
