Santee Cooper Spring Fishing Tournament
The Bassmaster Elite Series anglers were faced with a transition period during the middle of March down in South Carolina. Bass were primarily in pre-spawn patterns for practice and started pushing up shallow to spawn right as the tournament got started. The key was to locate and stay on top of pre-spawn fish and follow the bass shallow as they prepared to spawn.
Moving baits like crankbaits and spinnerbaits were the ticket to connecting with pre-spawn bass. When anglers started focusing on spawning fish, productive baits were ones that could be worked slowly like texas rigged plastics and wacky rigs.
