TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureReedsFished Lake Toho this morning from 6:30-noon. The morning started off with a good frog bite. I caught three of the five frog bites. Most of the bites came on the popping frog. As the sun started to get higher temps got warm and the water started to heat up. I saw water temps of 86-87. I did find a few other areas where there was submerged hydrilla next to the Kissimmee grass and found some smaller bass that ate a Gambler Burner worm in Junebug color. By the time I got back to the ramp it was in the mid-90’s, so time to get off the water, although I did get one last fish near the ramp.

TechniqueTexas Rigs (Worming)SeasonSummerStructureRiver ChannelsWent down in Shingle Creek this afternoon and put 3 in the boat, 2.05lbs, 1.10lbs and 3.92lbs, pictured, all caught on a Yum Dinger worm 6" in Mardi Gras color. They were all right along the edge of a drop off in shallow water and would take the worm toward the deeper water.

TechniqueBladed JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationFished Lake Toho Wednesday. Fishing conditions were tough and I knew they would be coming off of a long holiday weekend. Fished some offshore grass beds and shell beds throwing a Bill Lewis MR-6 and a 1/2 oz. Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap, Strike King Thunder Crickets, and drop shotting with 6" Straight Tail RoboWorms and WOO! Tungsten Drop Shot Weights. Only managed a couple of fish doing this so I then transitioned to fishing hydrilla. I focused on fishing patches of the hydrilla. Flipped a Missile Baits D Bomb on a Denali AttaX 7' 4" Heavy Fast paired with a Quantum Smoke S3 8.1:1 gear ratio reel with K9 Fishing 60 pound "8" Dyneema Braid with a 25 pound Sunline FC Assassin Flourocarbon leader. I had the Missile Baits D Bomb paired with a 3/4 oz. WOO! Tungsten Never Chip Flipping Weight and a 5/0 VMC Heavy Duty Flipping Hook. I caught the biggest of the day on a 1/2 oz. White Strike King Thunder Cricket paired with a Cream White Gary Yamamoto Zako Swimbait trailer. I had the Thunder Cricket setup on a Denali AttaX 7' 3" Medium Heavy Fast Casting Rod with a Quantum Smoke S3 7.3:1 gear ratio reel paired with 20 pound Sunline FC Sniper Flourocarbon. I also spent some time flipping the outer edges of some grass lines but didn't manage a bite.

TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged Vegetation🔥🥵 IT’S HOT! ☀️Launching from Whaleys Landing, there are top water spots along the grass edge right outside the canal going north and south. Kissimmee grass, sparse if you can find it, is perfect for frogs all day. The under water vegetation is thick to find the edge have to go our 50 yards from where it was in the last month. You will see the line of boats out on it. Swimming worms cast across the top of the grass and then let to drop at the edge get results. It is a normal summer pattern with some schools running those edges, look for the boils on the surface away from the thicker grass and that will be the schools. Take a cooler with water, then take another bag with water to refill the cooler. !!

Chain Pickerel
TechniqueSoft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium)SeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationThis pickerel struck my powerbait minnow in shiner color about 1 foot down. I was running it near the edge of hydrilla floating over submerged grass. I think he was waiting in the gap between the two vegetation types. I was running the bait on a 3/8 oz jig.
