WalleyeTechniqueFinesse Hair JigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationSnapping and dragging bucktails (black, black/purple, black/blue) through weeds and weed edges produced several nice fish. Fish ranged in depth from 7' to 14'. All fish were caught in the bay outside of the South Bay state boat launch.

Yellow PerchTechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationLarge perch were cruising around weed edges in 8-10' feeding on crawfish where weeds and rocks met. The Zman TRD CrawZ did a great job of getting the hits. Drifting along weed edges produced several perch over 11".

WalleyeTechniqueLive Bait RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationHit the water early searching for weeds in depths below 12'. I found good weed growth in 8-11' and used side scan to identify clear breaks. Using locally made casting weights and The Hammer worm harnesses I found some cooperative walleye just after sunrise. There was a very light wind when the bite began, and as soon as it died down, it was over.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueNed RigsSeasonSpring (Post-Spawn)StructureSubmerged VegetationLeaving the dock at Southshore at about 7am, I worked weed edges just outside of the launch area in 8-12' of water. A light wind out of the west allowed me to drift along edges and use a mixture of drop shots and ned rigs to land several 4+ lbs bass. Most of the successful weed edges were those closest to rocks, and every fish caught was spitting out crawfish pieces when I netted them. Zman products in "the deal" were the most effective color on this day. The best 5 fish weighed in at 19.7 lbs - overall a good day.

Largemouth BassTechniqueWacky RigsSeasonSummerStructureSubmerged VegetationToday I had a Kayak bass tournament for the Elite Kayak Series. After two days of practice I was able to locate a couple productive areas in the grass for largemouth bass even found a bedding smallmouth with 70ish degree water temps. I switched between a wacky rig and a Texas rigged worm. In the morning I even messed with a spro epop (popper). I caught a ton of largemouth and finished 12th out of 43.
