WalleyeTechniqueVertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19')SeasonFallStructurePointsMy approach is to long-line troll stickbaits until I find a pod of fish/bait. Then I'll set up on that spot and vertically jig Rapala Jigging Raps, Fire Tiger, Chrome, and the classic black/white all work well. Pay attention to your graph, being just 5 feet off from the pod and you won't get hit. Spot lock is super helpful, or just adjusting for your drift.

Yellow PerchTechniqueVertical Jigging Mid Depth (10-19')SeasonFallStructureOpen Water/BasinDropshot rigs with plastics and fathead minnows are on fire right now when you find the schools! Look in 15-25 fow anywhere on the south shore. Also did some walleye trolling flicker shad baits in 18-30 fow.

WalleyeTechniqueBlade BaitsSeasonFallStructureRiver ChannelsUsed a BPS silver 2.5" blade bait in the east end canal after dark. Using 10 lb Power Pro braid with a 12 lb Seaguar fluorocarbon leader rips the blade bait best having no stretch in the line and allows for solid hooksets. Rip the bait up 3-4 ft then allow it to swim back to the bottom before ripping it again. Caught several walleye over a 2 hr span, but only one over the 15" minimum.

WalleyeTechniqueTrolling Shallow (0-9')SeasonFallStructureLaydownsCasting from shore/wading after dark with Challenger Stick baits, standard 4" size, in black/silver and Sand Perch patterns connected with a small standard clip. Used a slow steady retrieve. Using 10 lb hi-vis Power Pro braid main line with a 12 lb Seaguar fluorocarbon leader allows for maximum casting distance, powerful hooksets, and minimal visibility by the fish. Landed 12 in 3 hours.

WalleyeTechniqueBlade BaitsSeasonFallStructureLaydownsHit the canal at the east end, saw fish landed on silver 2.5" blade baits as well as white swimbaits. Best time was just after dark. I pulled two keepers and two shorts working the blade bait near the wall on the north side.

Smallmouth BassTechniqueUmbrella RigsSeasonFallStructureLedgesFind the bait! That was the #1 key to success for me in tracking down these feisty brown fish. In fact, I usually had my best success if I could find a pod of boats targeting perch and/or walleye. While I did catch some fish on 3" paddletail swimbaits, most of my fish fell for the a-rig. In terms of retrieve, just vary it until you find the right mix.

WalleyeTechniqueHard JerkbaitsSeasonFallStructureBouldersSlow retrieving jerkbaits from shore was successful for walleye in the 15-25" range. Thrown with Cortland Line 15lb Masterbraid and 12lb XTR fluorocarbon leader material.

Yellow PerchTechniqueLive Bait RigsSeasonFallStructureSubmerged VegetationLonger nights, colder days, and the progression of the season have perch chasing minnows wherever they can be found. In this case, shad, small perch, and various other minnows are schooling in the slightly warmer (58 degree) shallower (11-14') flats just off the islands on the west end of the lake. Fatheads drop shotted anywhere from 1-3' off the bottom produced bites with perch batting in size from 5-12" depending on the cast. A light wind changing in direction allowed for some movement. However, the perch were roaming, so finding a consistent and successful line was not possible. With over 50 perch caught (approximately 20 keepers) in a couple hours, it was a good day.
