TechniqueFrogs/ToadsSeasonSummerStructureLily PadsSome good bites have been coming fishing frogs in the lily pads. The terminator walking frog is super easy to walk side to side and allows for a nice slow walking presentation through the pads. If you see the pads move or miss a fish you can flip a bait back in the pads to get them to bite. You need the right gear for this type of fishing. 50-65lb braid is important and a nice heavy action rod like the St. Croix Victory VTC74HF paired with a Daiwa tatula 150 is vital to getting the big ones out of heavy cover.

TechniqueSpinnerbaitsSeasonSummerStructureRip RapHad an Epic day on Saturday Sept 11th. My buddy and I boated 49 bass, 44 all from one 300 yard stretch at two different times of the day. Hot bait was the Castaic Atlas White Spinnerbait with a slight modification. The spinnerbait comes with two silver willow leaf blades, after my buddy started catching fish with a war eagle white spinnerbait that had a large silver willow with a small gold, I made the change to the Castaic and made that blade change, once that change was made I started catching fish. We boated roughly 24 fish in the first 2hrs that morning. Fish seemed to scatter so we moved tried a few other area's up river. Caught a couple on a Riot Baits Fuzzy Beaver and Riot Square Bill. On our way to another location down river, we decided to try that stretch one more time. We proceeded to boat another 25 fish on the same White Spinnerbaits over the same 300yrd stretch. The fish were primarily on banks with small gravel and rock on the bank into the water, boat was in about 4-5ft of water casting to the shore. Some laydowns along the bank fish came off of those but primarily fish were chasing bait and really in no specific location other than that stretch. Tried other area's on either side of that and no fish. Something about that stretch that was holding the bait, fish. That area has held fish every time I've fish that river for the last 30yrs but not to this level. Was an awesome day that I would love to repeat again!!!
