Johnny K
J Percy Priest Reservoir (TN)
Johnny K reported catching White Bass using the Umbrella Rigs technique and Dirty Jigs Matt Allen Tactical Bassin' Swimbait Jig Head on J Percy Priest Reservoir. Additional comments from this report: "I don't usually target white bass but saw a bunch of birds feeding on bait and decided to throw a hog farm umbrella rig in the area. Being that Percy Priest has a lot of threadfin shad, I decided to pait the Dirty Jigs Matt Allen Swimbait Jig Head with a 3.3 shad color Keitech Fat Swim Impact swimbait. For my rod, I like a long moderate rod. I've been using a 7'11 Cashion rod with a Quantum HD reel with 20 lb braid. If the fishing is tough and you have white bass / hybrid / striper, I would target these guys. They are fun when you get into a school of them. "

Strike King Squadron Swimbait Jig Head
$5.99

Reported by
Nonstop Panic Outdoors
Lake Erie
Nonstop Panic Outdoors reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Umbrella Rigs technique and Strike King Squadron Swimbait Jig Head on Lake Erie. Additional comments from this report: "Was pre-fishing for a “Working Man’s” tournament series out on Lake Erie and found some quality fish throwing around the A-rig in Canada. You can only have 3 hook points, so the Picasso screw heads played a big role allowing me to keep the same weight on the A-rig and keeping it balanced all around! I caught a few nice doubles of 4lbers then got out of the area and let it sit for the tournament! All of the fish were crushing the pink colored swimbait in the middle of the pack, and they simply could not resist it! All in all, go check out the Picasso Smart Mouth Dummy!"

Ben Hutchins
Fontana Lake (NC)
Ben Hutchins reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Umbrella Rigs technique and Strike King Squadron Swimbait Jig Head on Fontana Lake. Additional comments from this report: "I caught fish throwing an a-rig around bluff walls. Finding fish with livesocpe and then dropping the a-rig down to them can be very productive. "

KyleMolletFishing
Carlyle Lake (IL)
KyleMolletFishing reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Umbrella Rigs technique and Strike King Squadron Swimbait Jig Head on Carlyle Lake. Additional comments from this report: "If you want to catch a bunch of White Bass, just downsize your swimbaits. But if you don't want to catch the white bass, run the larger ones or that's pretty much all you'll catch. Most people don't know this technique works here because of that reason. However, the Largemouth are there, you just have to get your bait to them without the White bass getting it first."

LUKEROUTHFISHING
Table Rock Lake (AR, MO)
LUKEROUTHFISHING reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Umbrella Rigs technique and Queen Tackle LS Tungsten Jighead on Table Rock Lake. Additional comments from this report: "We hit the water early at Cape Fair for a Sunday Buddy Bass tournament and kicked things off with a bang. My very first fish of the day turned out to be the second biggest bass of the entire tournament a solid 5.19-pounder on an Alabama rig. That really set the tone for the morning. Patterns and Techniques We noticed our fish were holding a bit shallower than most folks were expecting for this time of year generally in that 5 to 10 foot range. After that first big catch, we started scooping up more fish on a minnow presentation and found a couple more decent ones around the 3-pound mark. The challenge was consistency lots of small fish mixed in, and we ended up with a couple under two pounds that kept us from climbing higher on the leaderboard. Key Spots and Lures The best bites came from a mix of spots: some fish were shallow on brush piles and secondary points leading back into pockets, while others were out a bit deeper where we could spot them on electronics and pick them off. The Alabama rig was definitely the hero of the day, and the fish were relating to shad, so once we found that bait, we found the bass. Final Results We ended up finishing sixth overall with a total bag of 16.55 pounds. Not a bad showing, but definitely room to climb. With the lake getting more pressure from upcoming tournaments, the fish were a bit finicky, but it was all about finding the right combination of bait and location.
