Megabass Okashira Screwhead

$6.99

Reported by
Katherine Field

Pool 8 Mississippi River (WI)

Katherine Field reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Soft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium) technique and Megabass Okashira Screwhead on Pool 8 Mississippi River. Additional comments from this report: "Just finished in the top 10 for the Hobie Bass Open Series, focusing mainly on smallmouth. In pool 8 I focused on dredged ditches that had a deep drop off, near sand/grass flats, with lots of current. Smallmouth are flushing shad up on the flats from these drop offs onto the shallow flats. Cast a spark shad on a light okashira screwhead and let that bait work across the shallows, and over the drop off. Smallies will be sitting on the ledge and crushing that bait on the fall."

"

Dirty Jigs Matt Stefan Guppy Head

$6.99

Reported by
PJ

Mississippi River - Champlin to Coon Rapids (MN)

PJ reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Soft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium) technique and Dirty Jigs Matt Stefan Guppy Head on Mississippi River - Champlin to Coon Rapids. Additional comments from this report: "Small swimbaits popped up and down off the bottom. The cold front seemed to turn off the bass and they weren’t chasing anything. Like the smaller hook of the guppy head for more action when working the swimbait slowly."

Reported by
Christopher Thuss

Sturgeon Bay (WI)

Christopher Thuss reported catching Smallmouth Bass using the Soft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium) technique and Dirty Jigs Matt Stefan Guppy Head on Sturgeon Bay. Additional comments from this report: "Fish in sturgeon bay and surrounding areas are in all phases of the spawn. Weather and fishing pressure has made fishing tough, but throwing baits that stand from the crowd have been working well. Small swimbaits like the Armor Shad and Spark Shad on 1/8 and 3/16 ball head jigs have worked great for covering water and finding roaming fish. Once fish are located, slowing down with a Howie’s tube with a light head help clean up. When the bottom is too nasty to fish a tube, a small black hair jig like the feider fly always gets a few good bites! There’s still plenty of time to catch these fish shallow! "

Reported by
Will S

Carlyle Lake (IL)

Will S reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Soft Body Swimbaits (Small/Medium) technique and Dirty Jigs Matt Stefan Guppy Head on Carlyle Lake. Additional comments from this report: "This lake is aweful for bass fishing. It is a catfish/crappie/white bass lake mainly. There are a few bass here and there but not near enough for a big tournament. I caught one short in the harbor where we launched on a tiny Swimbait. I also caught a three pounder in a pond by the hotel. That was it. Three of 75 boats caught a limit."
