Lake Saint Croix (MN, WI)
Slowly dragging a drop shot over rock shoreline and mouth openings in the river worked best. Pearl white minnow seemed to attract the most amounts of bites, they are a cheap bait as well and will last a long time.

Maple Lake (MN)
July 18, 2021; Warm mostly sunny and very calm; Water temp. 79 degrees F. The bass bite was a bit slow during our little club derby, but several of us caught decent fish on a drop shot. The winner and runner up averaged just under 3lb per bass. I had very few bites on the bottom. TX rigging a worm on a dropshot rig allowed me to work the bait in the weeds and not just on the outside weedline. Bass were caught both in and outside the milfoil and curly leaf pondweed, near points or inside turns. Let the weight sink to the bottom and wait half a minute. Drag a few feet and repeat, then try another cast.

Lake Minnetonka (MN)
Report for August 6th, 2022. Fished from about noon to 7pm, after big morning thunderstorms. Pretty calm and humid and then some rain. Caught a couple bass under docks on an All Terrain rattling AT jig, and had some hits with no luck on a frog. But caught most ofy fish on a 1/4iz drop shot with a small rhythm wave in albino shad on cleaner weedlines near deep water. Unfortunately most of the fish were in the smallish range. But overall a good day on the lake.

Took a day trip to the river in mid-august to try and find some smallmouth. With the water being low bank access was much easier. The drop shot and shakey head were the ticket. With the water down and slow current fish seemed to be scattered. We caught them up and down the bank and fish seemed to be holding in the main river tight to the bottom. Dragging a shakey head or shaking a drop-shot caught small numbers, with the occasional 2-2.5 lber. Moral of the story is, don't overlook Minneapolis' urban fisheries!
