Few males guarding fry, but most of the fish seemed to be Post Spawn. Target wood surrounded by vegetation. Weedless wacky rig 5" Yum Dingers and pitch D-Bombs into the thicker clumps when required."

Reported by
SnowtaBass

Marion Lake (MN)

SnowtaBass reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and VMC Weedless Neko Hook on Marion Lake. Additional comments from this report: "The summer dock bite can be very good. Look for the docks with deeper water adjacent to them and ones that provide the most shade. Take a wacky rig or jig and skip it as far back as you can get it. The harder it is to get to the spot the better as those fish haven't seen as many baits. They will typically hit it on the fall or shortly after you begin your retrieve. This can be a fun way to fish shallow when the bite is on."

Reported by
Mark Charpentier

North Center Lake (MN)

Mark Charpentier reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Wacky Rigs technique and VMC Weedless Neko Hook on North Center Lake. Additional comments from this report: "The bass were thick in the lily pads. We caught them cast after cast. Did not see any on the beds. We would cast out and let the worm soak for a few seconds and a bass would pick it up. We caught many 12-14 inch bass and a few up to 3 pounds. I think there were a lot of fry guarders present. We have been catching some on inside weed edges in sandy areas also using wacky worms and ned rigs. We used 15 lb fluorocarbon for the wacky worms in the pads and 10 lb fluorocarbon for the ned rigs. "
