Reported by
Matthew Mattingly

Fagan Branch Reservoir (KY)

Matthew Mattingly reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Football Jigs technique and Strike King Rage Craw on Fagan Branch Reservoir. Additional comments from this report: "Summer time on this little lake can get tough, escpecially with how clear it is. Get out therer early and fish 15+ ft deep off of the points, humps and the dam. A trimmed up, compact 1/2 football jig with a craw trailer is a straight up bite getter. If you get in an area with submerged vegetation try a Carolina rig with a creature bait to keep you lure above the grass. Again use good fluoro because the lake is super clear"

For Rod And Reel

Eagle Lake (MI)

For Rod And Reel reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Football Jigs technique and Googan Baits Bandito Bug - EOL on Eagle Lake. Additional comments from this report: "I'd take a football jig by strike king, probably brown or green pumpkin, and pair it with a Googan Alabama Krackin Craw. That seems to work best for early spring fishing (spawn). Just work it nice and slow around the banks and you'll get hit."

Horseshoe Lake (MN)

This lake doesn’t have a ton of structure and we scanned it pretty well, but we were able to find a rock point with some scattered weeds and they were stacked! We would slow roll football jigs over the rocks and they would hammer them. Then to keep them fired up we threw heavy jackhammers because the fish were so active. I pretty much always have a chatterbait of some sort tied up. Not a bad way to spend a Monday off.

Reported by
Luke Loewe

Lake Minnewashta (MN)

I caught around 15 bass with the biggest being almost 5 pounds all on football jigs on deep weed lines. A couple came on a Rapala DT-16 right over the tops of the weeds. I used my Livescope to locate the large schools of panfish that the bass were hanging around and would trow the football jig into those schools. Once it sunk below them into the weeds I would rip the jig out of the weeds to create reaction bites. The bass were schooled up and where I would catch one, most of the time there were more with it that I could see on livescope.
