Almost never marked the fish we caught. almost always got the bite on the fall. no need to fish the bait on the bottom very long."
G. Loomis NRX+ Casting Rods
$650
Reported by
Andrew De Kock
Pokegama Lake (MN)
Andrew De Kock reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Neko Rigs technique and G. Loomis NRX+ Casting Rods on Pokegama Lake. Additional comments from this report: "Fished hard for four days on Cross / Pokegama and the Snake River in Pine City! We found big fish in all three bodies of water but they were scattered quite a bit. Natural colors seemed to work well with a neko rig or jig flipped around wood and docs. My buddy in the picture caught our biggest fish, had the body of a 6 but weighed about 4.5. On tournament day we had a few nice blowups on the frog but the big girls just didn’t commit to it putting us in 5th place overall on what seemed like a tougher bluebird sky day. Congratulations to the winners! "

Daiwa Steez AGS Spinning Rods
$549.99 – 599.99

Reported by
Lonnie Bloom
Lake Minnetonka (MN)
Lonnie Bloom reported catching Largemouth Bass using the Neko Rigs technique and Daiwa Steez AGS Spinning Rods on Lake Minnetonka. Additional comments from this report: "Ran several different sections of docks during my last derb on Tonka, almost exclusively threw a Neko rig at them. Finding the docks with tips in 10fow or deeper proved the best for size provided there was good milfoil present near the end or underneath the dock. It worked well as a means to cover water quickly, skipping it up under each dock from 3 different angles as we rolled up to, in front of, and past, and then moving onto the next one. Dead paused on semi slack line and then dragging it maybe 3-4" and then pausing it again, hopping did not provide the same number of bites. If it didn't get eaten after that second pause, reel in and do it again. Kick up the trolling motor speed and burn em, doubling back and hitting them from the other direction produced more bite as well. "

Dusty Wood
Lake Hartwell (GA, SC)
Dusty Wood reported catching Spotted Bass using the Neko Rigs technique and Daiwa Steez AGS Spinning Rods on Lake Hartwell. Additional comments from this report: "You are able to find a lot of fish out in deeper water. Getting them to bite is the hard part, it is mostly a timing thing so you will need to return to fish throughout the day. In the morning you can catch fish on moving baits like deep crank baits and jerk baits. Once the sun gets up high in the sky you need to switch to bottom baits. The neko rig is a great way to catch fish when they don’t want to bite. It helps when you can stay back off the fish so I’m using a 7’6” rod to gain some extra distance. It helps a lot to have a sensitive rod like the Steez AGS because most of the fish are biting on slack line or just mouthing the bite. "
